The European Union is in the process of preparing itself to undergo profound changes in the operating system of its Institutions, which is showing the discussion on the Enlargement, the future of Europe, the Space of Liberty, Security and Justice and the role of the European Union in the world.

These and other subjects can and should be object of debate between the European information professionals, as managers and multiplying agents for knowledge in present and future issues, in the European Union.

In this sense, the goals of the National Co-ordinators are :

1. To create and to increase a space of debate among the Portuguese European Documentation Centres' professionals.

2. To disseminate information and questions produced by colleagues of other european EDC.

3. To disclose news, events and specialised information to all those who are interested in european matters.

4. To try to standardise the cataloguing and indexing process of information, in the country, making use of the existing tools for the matter.

5. To share working tools and to support the access to them.

6. To create a National Database for European Information of all the existing Documentation and Information in Portugal.
